Mendelssohn, Elijah

This version requires 1 flute, 1 oboe, 2 clarinets, 1 bassoon, 1 horn, 1 trumpet, 1 trombone, timpani and normal strings (organ is optional). This is ten fewer than Mendelssohn’s original.

The scoring has been done with a light touch so the solo parts in the wind section remain on the original instruments. Only the English translation is included in the score

All recitatives are included in the string parts. This means recitatives can be done without a keyboard instrument.
